Reseacrhers at the GMR Institute of Technology in Rajam, India, found that cottonseed oil could be a source of “green fuel” for cars. They discovered that the cottonseed oil was as efficient as petroleum diesel when used as fuel in small engines.

The ecological model called Jetta TDI, launched by Volkswagen won the prize: “Green Car of the Year”  at the Los Angeles auto show.
