Portugal will build 1300 refueling stations for electric vehicles, until 2012 according to the Portuguese Government. The decision comes after an agreement between the Portuguese authorities and Renault-Nissan. They have agreed on a plan to reduce greenhouse gases.

The Portuguese governors claimed that 20% of the new models sold over three years in Portugal will be electric or can be recharge at the special stations. Renault will deliver in Portugal, in the year 2011 a first batch of 100% electric vehicles.

The autonomy of each electric model will initially be about 160 km. The agreement signed by Renault-Nissan with Portugal is similar to those achieved with the Denmark and Israel governments, the following two states in which will be initiated the electric program.
