Peugeot to Launch an All-Electric Car in Europe

Peugeot iOn will be the first all-electric car launched by the company in Europe next year. This new car will be based on Mitsubishi’s i MiEV electric car.
The iOn all-electric Peugeot vehicle will have a maximum speed of 130 km/h (81 mph), with a range of about 130 km. The lithium-ion battery pack can be recharged in about six hours, using a conventional 220 V socket or to 80% capacity within thirty minutes with a 50 kW quick charge.
The battery pack can store 16 kWh of power, using a lithium-ion chemistry. iOn will have an average energy consumption of 125 Wh/km.The officials claim that until 2011 Mitsubishi will provide “more than 10,000″ electric cars to Peugeot.
