Pepperidge Farm Opened United States’ Largest Fuel Cell Plant

A company named Pepperidge Farm situated in Bloomfield, CT bakery, opened United States’ largest fuel cell plant. This plant is about 1.2 MW and will provide 57 percent of the 260,000 square foot facility’s power.

In 2006, the company Pepperidge Farm’s opened a 250 kW plant and 70 percent of the bakery’s power will be provided by the two fuel cell plants. The plant boilers fuel will be thereby reducing because the excess heat from the new fuel cell will be used to support bakery processes.

Fuel Cell Energy,Inc was built the Pepperidge Farm’s new DFC fuel. Another very important thing to know is that the cell operates at 47 percent electrical efficiency and at up to 80 percent efficiency when excess heat from the cell is used for bakery processes. Thanks to this company, the CO2 emissions will be drastically reduced and it helps a lot our environment.
