An Island Of Energy For a Greener Future

An ocean floating platform to capture and convert natural forces in green energy has been developed by the inventor Dominic Michaelis. The energy island could successfully exploit the wind, power and sun energy, that are plenty in the oceans.

The island was declared unsatisfied about the slow progress of the development of thermal energy conversion of the ocean. Through this process, the cold water is pumped from the deep ocean to generate electricity.

“Energy Island”, which he created together with his son, would have an installation of thermal energy conversion and a platform with an area of 600 square meters with wind turbine and solar panels. In addition, wave energy converters and capture turbines of oceanic currents would turn the water power which move around the platform in energy.

“One such island would generate 250 megawatts sufficient to ensure the needs of a small town. More energy could be obtained if will be created more islands as an archipelago,” said Michaelis. To attract potential investors, the team that worked on the project will present its concept in the U.S. China GREENTECH Summit, which takes place in Shanghai.
