Another Step Towards Eco-friendly Electronics - Bamboo Encased Laptops

Now adays, there is a new trend in computer’s carcase design. Could I consider this a new fancy way to show off or is it just a simple way to express our respect to nature? Manufacturers are demonstrating their keen sense of art, not only in increasing computer’s performance, but also in giving it a stately appearance. What I refer to is the bamboo and wooden-cases, as a part of the eco-friendly factor for laptops. Instead of shiny plastic the laptops are encased in laminated bamboo strips.
Of course, using a sustainable raw material, like wood, in particular bamboo, doesn’t increase the functionality of the device. Still, its overall qualities as in energy efficiency, performance, rising up to customers’ expectation, are not all forgotten. Moreover, it seems that a wood casing would extend, even for a little while, computer’s life cycle. This could be the answer to a growing concern about the use of plastic.
Every time when we flop our laptops wide open, we can feel a little bit closer to nature and its resources and think twice when we want to change or throw away a beautiful wooden product. I would proudly say that this is a returning to old time handicraft, but in a more dashing way.
Some of electronic products that have embraced the new “green” outfit are Dell, Assus, Fujitsu.
