BioLogic_FreeCharge_charge_hiresFinally! A device that everybody expected (at least I did) to come out. In today times, you can barely find a person, be it old or young, that doesn’t poses at least one gadget, an electronic device that you carry around. From a ordinary mobile phone to iPhones or GPS systems, this electronics usually are powered by a internal battery, which eventually goes empty. We all hate when that unexpectedly happens. But that wont be the case anymore, as long as you keep pedaling :)

Dahon, the same company that produced the folding bikes, has announced a new piece of equipment, the BioLogic FreeCharge , that attaches to your bike’s dynamo, granting you the opportunity to charge your electronic portable device through the USB port just by pedaling a bike. While riding your bike, the energy produced by the generator is captured by this device which in turn charges a internal high-capacity battery. By first charging the internal battery, your iPhone, or  will be not affected by the velocity of your pedaling, in a sense by the variable voltage delivered by the dynamo hub, but supplying a steady current flow to your gizmo.

To recharge of an iPhone will take about 3 hours, making the device more suitable for long rides but it will function all the time of the ride, meaning that you will never be deprived of your iPods music anymore. BioLogic FreeCharge, which should fit to every dynamo found today, will be available as from March, 2010 at a price of $99.
