15.5 million dollars is the amount that a company called Solix Biofuels situated in California will invest in a algae farm to produce biofuel at the highest rate so far, between 5 and 6,000 liters per hectare.

The farm is situated on the Indian reservation of the Ute tribe, near Durango. The optimal conditions for algae cultivation are quite expensive. To remedy the this problem, Solix has introduced a system of photo-biological reactors which are placed in water and facilitate the traffic of carbon dioxide and other nutrients needed.

The farm will produce crude oil, which will be transported to refineries where to be turned into fuel that can successfully replace gasoline, said Douglas R. Henston( compnay’s SEO).

Until now, the Solix company succeeded in producing raw biofuel at a rate of 3,000 liters per hectare.
