China wants to build the Asia’s largest solar power plant in a Beijing suburb. The project was developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and will cost 14.7 million dollars. The construction will start next month.
Solar plant will be capable to generate 1.5 MW of, that is enough to power 30,000 households. The solar project will cover the surface of 13 hectare and will generate 2.7 million kWh electricity per year, means that approximately 2300 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere will be eliminated.
The station will have in the middle a 100-meter tall tower that will be surrounded by 100 solar panels which will track the sun’s position and will redirect its energy at the top of the tower.
